The goal of this complex project was to reduce the financial cost and time of removing the silica sludge sediments laying at the bottom of the 25 filtering pools of this water treatment plant near Madrid, Spain.
Prior to Tecamyser´s intervention, the sediments were removed manually. A tedious, costly and lengthy process.
Tecamyser recommended the installation of a submersible pump suitable for pumping applications with high quantity of solids. The selected pump was the EL7.555 model. This model of our range of high capacity pumps is able to pump mixed densities of up to 1,800 kg/ m3. Its standard features include a double mechanical seal and a heavier overloading. This let the pump run safely even in no-deep areas as it uses the pumped fluid to cool off its electric engine.
Following the first operating month, the result has been very satisfactory. The time to complete the job has been halved, costs have been reduced significantly and the job satisfaction of the site engineers have increased very much.
